Lucrecia de Santillana II by zapatones Lucrecia de Santillana II by zapatones
I intend to enter Glam's base race as soon as college allows me to. Today was one of those lazy days in which, no matter how hard you try (and I tried a lot XD) you just can't get around to getting any assignments done, so I decided to celebrate my last two days being 25 by making a doll.

Not any doll. She's Lucrecia*, again, wearing my favourite dress from the show. A dress she only wore for less than ten minutes and that suddenly disappeared after that scene... If I had such a dress, I would wear it everywhere.

*Lucrecia de Santillana, from the Spanish show Įguila Roja

CREDITS (before I forget):

This is supposed to be base number three: Laona, by ~decomposing-lotus But I basically started editing the arms and then changed the head shape, and in the end, it looks nothing like it.

I still scribbled over it while sketching so I think it's fair to give credit to it. That being said, I should make a proper doll on that base for the race.

For the sake of comparison, these were my references: [link]

I already tried my hand at Lucrecia [link], and even though I don't like getting all cocky about my work, I must admit there's been some degree of improvement.

(That's me being modest, this is the awesomest thing I've ever done!!! :squee:
Let me enjoy the hype while it lasts, tomorrow I'll hate it.)

This is the kind of doll you love when it's finished but then see some mistakes when you get back. I should have gone easy with contrast and all the fancy image adjustment tools. Thank you :D

You know, I look at my artwork after I've loved it and then begin to think I could change this or that too. For most of us looking at your art, it needs no improvements :D

Wow, thank you! I do enjoy the process much more than the end result. To me, a finished doll is just the first step towards a new one :D

I agree, this is the awesomest (or one of) thing you've done.

Thank you so much. The character is pretty awesome, so I wanted to do her (and that dress!) justice.

I just looove how this turned out, the folds are amazing. The thing I like about your work is it reminds me of old oil paintings, like the ones from the medieval ages. There's just a sense of old world charm about them, and I love how realistic it looks. She looks almost as though she could come to life at any moment. XD

Well, I grew up surrounded by art books of the greatest masters and, even though I can't remember, I used to spend hours looking at some of them. Apparently, I had a crush on most Spanish painters, probably because I recognised the names. (I still have an artist crush on the Madrazos) Though, to be fair, my dad is the greatest artist that ever lived! :w00t:

Thanks a lot for your comment and kind words.

LOL! I used to spends hours looking at art books too, though I was more interested in the pretty pictures than anything. XD You're fortunate to have a dad who is so talented! Dads ftw! :D

Your welcome! :huggle:

I tend to idolise my dad (both my parents, actually) a lot. My mom sometimes pretends to be jealous because I always take his side. It's not my fault that he's always right, though. So, most likely, I took an interest in drawing and those books because that meant spending time with him.

Now, since he's moved away from art due to work and growing older (he also prefers to play around with computers and trying new programs) I just work on it by myself and it's pretty awesome when he sees what I do and encourages me to keep at it (obviously XD) Besides, he doesn't fear being brutally honest with me when there's something off, and there's always something to pick on. He's the reason I'm so focused on working harder and making the most out of my hobby; that's the main lesson he's taught me.

I know how you feel (about the age part). I'm turning 26 this year as well. eek. lol.

The doll is beyond amazing. The shading is so flawless and the details in her bodice are love. I really adore her face as well, very realistic, especially with the subtle age lines.

To me the worst part is getting all moody and thinking that I'm growing older yet I don't think I've matured enough or really accomplished anything in life. Then I just decide that I'm better than that and move on. I have my own achievements and, ordinary as they may be, I got there on my own, so I shouldn't let that bring me down.

Thank you so much for your comment. There's something highly therapeutic about foldy sleeves and historically inaccurate fashion, so this was just what I needed.
